I took this dreamy sunset wedding photograph of this couple at the historic Kuebler Waldrip Haus in New Braunfels, Texas. There are so many things I love about this photo; the gorgeous sunset hues, the out-of-focus grass in the foreground, the romantic pose, and the groom’s western gear.
Although you can’t tell from the photograph, I did have to get down on my stomach amidst the prickly pear cactus, fire ants, and chiggers to capture this particular image. It was terrifically uncomfortable, but I knew as I was clicking away down there in the dust that it was going to be worth it.
When the couple told me they were having a western-themed wedding, and to expect the groom and his groomsmen to look like something out of Westworld, I had no idea how far they would actually go. It was really amazing; the guys completely looked the part, and the groom even fired off blanks from his revolver into the air after the ceremony was finished.
